BIOGRAFIA

Laureato in Scienze Agrarie. Dottore di Ricerca in Entomologia Agraria. Ricercatore dal 1990, Professore II fascia dal 2002 e I fascia dal 2019. Afferente all’SSD AGR/11 (Entomologia generale e applicata).
L’attività di ricerca interessa principalmente: morfologia, sistematica, bio-etologia, genetica e controllo di acari eriofioidei con particolare riguardo verso specie di interesse economico e quelle implicate nel controllo delle piante infestanti; morfologia funzionale delle strutture implicate nell’attività trofica nonché dei recettori nervosi annessi alle parti boccali, alle zampe e al prodorso di alcuni acari di interesse economico; morfologia, bio-etologia e controllo del Buprestidae Capnodis tenebrionis (L.); studi ecotossicologici di sistemi biologici in presenza di xenobiotici organici e inorganici nel suolo.
Fa parte dell’editorial board per Acarologia, Entomologica, Insects, Persian Journal of Acarology e Redia, è associate editor per l’International Journal of Acarology, e subject editor per il Journal of Entomological and Acarological Research,
Coordinatore del progetto TEMPUS-IV “International joint master degree in Plant Medicine (IPM)”. Coordinatore di diversi progetti di ricerca finanziati dal MURST, dall’Ateneo di Bari e responsabile scientifico di convenzioni fra l’Università di Bari ed Enti pubblici e privati.
È stato segretario scientifico del IV (Siena, 2000) e organizzatore del IX Simposio (Bari 2020) dell’Associazione degli Acarologi Europei (Eur.A.AC.).

Graduate in Agricultural Sciences. PhD in Agricultural Entomology. Assistant professor since 1990, associate Professor since 2002 and full Professor since 2019, in General and applied Entomology.
The research activities regard mainly: morphology, systematic, bio-ethology, genetic and control of Eriophyoidea with particular interest to species of economic relevance and those involved in the control of infesting plants; functional morphology of structures involved in the trophic activity as well as sensilla related to the mouthparts, legs and prodorsal region of mites with economic relevance; morphology, bio-ethology and control of Capnodis tenebrionis (Buprestidae); ecotoxicological responses of biological systems exposed to organic and inorganic xenobiotics in the soil.
Member of the editorial board for Acarologia, Entomologica, Insects, Persian Journal of Acarology and Redia; associate editor for the International Journal of Acarology, and subject editor for the Journal of Entomological and Acarological Research,
Coordinator of the TEMPUS-IV project “International joint master degree in Plant Medicine (IPM)”. Coordinator of many research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, University of Bari, and scientific responsible of agreements between the University of Bari and public and private Institutions.
Scientific secretary of the IV (Siena, 2000) and organizer of the IX Simposium (Bari 2020) of the European Association of the European Acarologists (Eur.A.AC.).
