Professore Associato di Entomologia agraria presso la Facoltà di Scienze agrarie, alimentari e ambientali dell’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, sede di Piacenza, dal dicembre 2019.
Laureato in Scienze Agrarie nel 1985 presso la Facoltà di Agraria dell’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
Nel corso della sua attività di è occupato di:
aspetti biologici, biochimici e molecolari dei meccanismi di resistenza agli insetticidi in Myzus persicae, Musca domestica e altre specie di interesse agrario;
sistemi sensoriali dei maschi dei Diaspini, sulle strutture riproduttive di Imenotteri parassitoidi e sui sistemi ghiandolari di Metcalfa pruinosa;
sviluppo di modelli fenologici previsionali per le tignole della vite e di Pseudaulacaspis pentagona;
biologia, monitoraggio e lotta degli insetti vettori di fitoplasmi alla vite a al pomodoro;
interrelazioni tra la piralide del mais e i funghi micotossigeni;
biologia e l’impatto di specie aliene introdotte in Italia come Diabrotica virgifera virgifera e Myzus mumecola;
Premi e riconoscimenti: Ha ricoperto la carica di segretario dell’Associazione Italiana per la Protezione delle Piante per il triennio 2008-2010. Da gennaio 2020 ne è stato eletto presidente per il triennio 2020-2022.

His scientific interest and researches are:
biological, biochemical and molecular aspects of insecticide resistance mechanisms in Myzus persicae, Musca domestica e and other agricultural pests;
anatomy and morphology of sensory structures in Diaspidid males, of parasitoid genitalia and exocrin glands Metcalfa pruinosa;
models for grape moths and white peach scale phenology forecasting;
biology, monitoring and control of phytoplasma vectors in grape and tomato;
relationships among maize and grape pests and micotoxigenic fungi;
biology and impact of alloctonous species like Diabrotica virgifera virgifera and Myzus mumecola;
Awards: He was the secretary of the Italian Association for Plant Protection (AIPP) in the triennium 2008-2010. In January 2020 he has been elected president of AIPP.
