BIOGRAFIA

Laureata in Scienze Agrarie nel 1973 presso l’università di Padova, Dipartimento di Agronomia, Alimenti, Animali, Risorse naturali e Ambiente, dove ha successivamente svolto la carriera fino a Professore Ordinario, tenendo corsi di Zoologia, Entomologia generale e applicata, Lotta biologica, Apicoltura, Acarologia e Nematologia e dedicandosi a diversi campi di ricerca (Entomologia agraria, Lotta biologica e integrata, fitofagi delle piante officinali, effetti collaterali dei fitofarmaci, fitofagi delle piante ornamentali, specie esotiche introdotte). Specialista in Hemiptera Coccomorpha (sistematica, tassonomia, biologia, etologia, biogeografia). Responsabile e Referee per progetti di ricerca nazionali e internazionali e per riviste scientifiche nazionali e internazionali. Nel 1996 ha organizzato (in collaborazione) il Workshop “Effect of the possible global warming on the insect diversity and distribution” al XX International Congress of Entomology, Firenze, 25-31 August 1996. Membro del progetto europeo DAISIE (Delivering Alien Invasive Species Inventories for Europe, 2008-2010). Nel 2001 ha organizzato a Padova il IX International Symposium on Scale Insects Studies (ISSIS) e curato l’edizione dei Proceedings. Dal 2001 è membro dell’International Advisory Committee degli International Symposia on Scale Insect Studies. Nel 2016 le è stato conferito il Lifetime Achievement Award per gli studi sugli Hemiptera Coccomorpha. Ha pubblicato, da sola o in collaborazione, 4 libri e circa 160 pubblicazioni, di cui oltre 90 sugli Hemiptera Coccomorpha.

Graduate in Agricultural Sciences in 1973 at the University of Padua. Full professor of Entomology at the University of Padova, Department of Agronomy, Food, Natural resources, Animal and Environment. Lecturer of General and Applied Entomology, Acarology, Nematology, Zoology, Apiculture, Biological Control). Main topics of research: integrated pest management and biological control in the agroecosystems, pests of medicinal herbs and ornamentals, side effects of pesticides, alien insect pests. Specialist in Hemiptera Coccomorpha (systematics, taxonomy, morphology, biology, biogeography). Scientific responsible of national and international research projects. Peer Reviewer of national and international research projects and referee for national and international scientific journals. Co-Organizer of the Workshop “Effect of the possible global warming on the insect diversity and distribution” al XX International Congress of Entomology, Firenze, 1996; member of the Organizing Committee of IX International Symposium on Scale Insects Studies, Padova, 2001 and Editor of the Proceedings. Member of the International Advisory Committee for International Symposia on Scale insects studies since 2001. Member and expert of the European project DAISIE (Delivering Alien Invasive Species Inventory for Europe. 2008-2010). In 2016 honored with the ISSIS Lifetime Achievement Award for her studies on Hemiptera Coccomorpha.
