Anna Maria Fausto


Anna Maria Fausto graduated with honour in Biological Sciences at the Institute of Parasitology of University of Rome”La Sapienza”. In 1995 she obtained her PhD in “Biological and Biochemical Evolution”. After a period as scholarship at the Italian Institute of Health in Rome, she arrived at University of Tuscia, where became Resercher, then Associate Professor and since 2006 Full Professor of Zoology. Here she held different university posts: Head of the Interdepartmental Centre of Electron Microscopy, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences, deputy Director of Department. for Innovation in Biological, Agro-food and Forest systems and Vice Rector of University of Tuscia from 2013 to 2019.

The entomological research activity mainly focuses on the study of different morpho-functional aspects of biology, in particular reproduction and development, in insects of medical interest, such as: Diptera Psychodidae, Culicidae, Ceratopogonidae (Leptoconops) e Glossinidae, and also in Phasmida e Plecoptera.

Since 2015 she has been a member of the Italian Academy of Entomology where she has been elected Vice-President since 2019.
